Our lovely sister and former pledge trainer, Leslie Midget Held, is planning a wonderful and lovely TriDelta reunion for the Classes of 1983 - 1989 the weekend of July 31 - August 2 at good ole 705 N. C Street. She has planned a fantastic weekend full of activities for the sisters (sans spouses, significant others, children and pets) that sounds like a total blast. I've already sent in my RSVP! (For me, the Queen of Procrastination, this is TRULY a feat!) Some of you, who fall into the above-mentioned group, should have already received the invite. (If you haven't, contact Leslie Held, her e-mail is in the "cc" above.) So, my purpose in contacting those of you in the classes of 83 - 89 is to say, "C'mon! What are you waiting for? This sounds like a great reunion - we'd love to see you! Send in your RSVP for the reunion!" (My ulterior motive is to find someone coming from the Chicago area to carpool with! Amy? Nanny K? Logue? Jenks? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)
The rest of you are probably thinking "Why the heck are you telling ME about this?" It's because I MISS YOU and would love to have a "Mini Reunion" as part of the larger reunion that weekend with our sisters from the classes of 1990, 1991 and 1992! I know I was never the Social Chairman, but I am self-appointing myself "Reunion Chairman" for this occasion! Leslie and the "older" alums don't care if you younger ones join in or if we plan a separate get-together, so I am proposing that we all meet the evening of Saturday, August 1 for a "Mini-Reunion". The "official" plans for the 83-89 reunion is a casual dinner at The Sports Page (I assume that's in Indianola?) from 5:30 - 8:00 on Saturday, August 1. Mel Barnett Appenzeller and her husband, Al, are participating in the Hot Air Balloon Festival in town that weekend, and there is a launch at 7:00. Our tentative plans for later in the evening include a "Pub Crawl" in Indianola! (Translation: Pre-party is at The Sports Page, Balloons optional, and then BAR NIGHT.) Maybe we will revive S.N.A.C., just for the occasion. (Bring bail money, just in case.)
These plans aren't set in stone. If you can propose something better, shoot me an e-mail and share. If this sounds do-able to you, let me know!! I'd LOVE to see you guys! It's been at least 10 years since I've seen many of you, and 20 years for many more of you! I'm still as fun as I used to be (even more so, since I've lost brain-cells during pregnancy) - and I'm sure you all are, too. (Face it, we crack ourselves up.) You've got a good two months to crash diet and lose 20 pounds (I KNOW that's what you're thinking - I KNOW because I just had a salad for lunch), so you're out of excuses.

ReplyDeleteThe thought of the pub crawl in Indianola makes me laugh! I live here again and I don’t even know how many of our old haunts are still around. I think Wrong Daddy’s still is (different name though). I was thinking the Cigar Box (was that the real name or just what we called it?) might be gone but not sure…it might be a short crawl but we’ll make it worthwhile. I think Pete’s Pizza is closed and of course the Quik Shop where I got addicted to those huge Mountain Dews has been long gone but that’s the way it is in a metropolis like Indianola, progress, progress, progress!LOL
I haven’t been back to the house since graduation, I keep thinking I should get involved as an alum and help out at the fall rush stuff or something.
This should be a fun weekend!

Okay, here's the thing. I'm all about getting together to see you all! I think it would be absolutely awesome, as no one keeps in touch with me....and I guess, that would work vice versa, though some of you are friends with moi on Facebook. I haven't laughed long and hard for awhile, so that would be great. However, I can do Friday night only, since my 25th high school reunion is that weekend as well. What's the chances? So, it's a hog roast at Kathy Goerhing's farm or a stop at 705 North "C" street for me. I'd probably have to stash the hubby and kids at his mom's in Prairie City....or perhaps, someplace closer. But I can't spend the night in the house, as I need to be in Fairfield by 10:00 a.m. the following Sat. That's me story...what's everyone else doing?
